InTouch brings mapping to the mobile PC, allowing users to take full advantage of GIS in the field.

What is InTouch?

Running on Pocket PC, InTouch allows you to leave the office and take the maps with you. When used in conjunction with a GPS unit to make use of satellite positioning, users are able to locate and inspect existing assets and/or capture new information. Latitude InTouch provides an intuitive look and feel to ensure ease-of-use and practical operations on a hand-held device. Latitude InTouch also provides an API to allow the creation of complimentary application tailored to meet your field operations. Current examples include reading Water Meters, marking Graffiti Locations and Infringement Locations and identifying Addresses of Owners of Stray Animals.

Features

Desktop Management InTouch includes a management tool (on the desktop PC) to allow the creation of a Latitude environment customised for the hand held device. GPS Integration GPS Integration allows the map to refresh over the users position. New points can be added based on GPS location or where the user clicks on the map. Latitude Map Format InTouch uses the Latitude format therefor making it easy to integrate your newly created maps back into your corporate (Latitude) GIS. Latitude User Environments InTouch uses Latitude User Environment Files (UEFs) allowing the administrator to create new UEFs specifically designed for the task at hand.

Example Applications

Asset Collection Staff are able to collect asset information (location and textual) out in the field eg. record street light locations & details, record tree location & details. Graffiti Mapping Map areas affected by graffiti, including position and details such as condition, approximate maintenance costs, etc.
